About 21 miles

Meet Jessica.

Jessica has been teaching since 2017 and has worked with more than 140 international students. Her background is in teaching, special education and educational technology.

She teaches the same lesson in several different ways, so every child finds a way in and remembers it long term. She doesn’t teach school skills on their own, either: they are practised in ways children can use in everyday life.

How Jessica teaches

For every learner, with or without additional needs.

Learning that sticks

Research shows we learn best when emotions are involved, so lessons are built to be felt, not just heard.

Many ways in

The same lesson, taught in different ways, until it clicks and stays.

Skills for real life

School skills aren’t taught as a separate thing. Children practise them in ways they can use every day.

Keeps everyone moving

Arts, movement activities, seated work and online learning games keep even the least motivated learners engaged.

Our tutoring is for all learners, with or without additional needs. Our vision and mission describe the disability and inclusion work at the heart of 21 miles.

Our vision

We aim to deliver high-quality, person-centred disability services that support people with disability to build functional capacity, independence, and wellbeing through inclusive sports, fitness, education, and creative programs.

We are committed to upholding choice and control by co-designing individualized supporting systems that respond to each participant’s goals, strengths, and support needs. Through evidence-based, culturally responsive, and inclusive practices, we enable participants to develop daily living skills, social participation, digital and media literacy, and lifelong learning capabilities that promote safety, dignity, and meaningful community engagement.

Guided by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Framework, we work collaboratively with participants, families, carers, and support networks to deliver ethical, safe, and effective supports that empower people with disability to live active, connected, and self-directed lives.

Our mission

We support people with disability to develop and strengthen functional skills across social, behavioral, emotional, health, and other capacity-building domains, based on their individual goals and support needs.

Using inclusive, evidence-based approaches such as Universal Design for Learning, modelling, differentiated instruction, scaffolding, adaptive sports, reasonable adjustments, project-based learning, and technology-supported learning, we deliver individualized supports that promote independence, wellbeing, and meaningful participation. Our programs incorporate contemporary educational technologies and digital citizenship (including safe and ethical online engagement) to support lifelong learning and responsible use of information.

We also provide training and capacity-building for families, carers, educators, and other stakeholders to strengthen inclusive practices and improve outcomes for people with disability.
